Codatu took part in the SoMos LAC community of practice meeting in La Paz

Last week (from 9 to 11 October), the city of La Paz hosted the meeting of the SoMos LAC community of practice, which brings together the actors and institutions involved in the 19 projects funded by the Euroclima+ programme in the region since its launch in 2018. This community of practice aims to ‘establish a network of public, private and civil society stakeholders to facilitate dialogue and collaboration in order to drive initiatives, policies and actions aimed at improving mobility systems in the region in a sustainable way’. Jérémy Robert took part in these discussions on behalf of Codatu.

Following the presentation of the publication ‘Urban mobility – Euroclima: results and lessons learned’ (2018-2024), which provides an overview of the projects carried out, the first day was devoted to the La Paz South Macrodistrict cycle network project and the cable car, which have been helping to transform the city since 2014.

The following two days were devoted to exchanging experiences and organising the network and its future activities. One of the central objectives of the meeting was to define the dynamics of the community of practice, in particular the establishment of thematic groups responsible for driving the agenda of exchanges and actions.

These groups are organised around 6 themes: the digitisation of mobility; the gender, equity and inclusion approach; active mobility and micromobility; logistics and freight; mobility management and governance; and finally public transport systems, including small-scale transport, in which Codatu will be seeking to play an active role.

It was three days of exchanges between players who are passionate about mobility and who shared knowledge, ideas and perspectives, from Mexico to Chile, via Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Brazil, with Bolivia hosting the event.
