CODATU Technical Cooperation in Peru – Visits to Arequipa and Huamanga
Visits to Arequipa and Huamanga, two strategic intermediate cities located in the Andes, took place this week in order to continue the support to Peruvian local authorities in the framework of the technical cooperation established between AFD, CODATU and the Peruvian Ministry of Transport and Communication via PROMOVILIDAD (the entity of the Ministry in charge of setting up efficient, integrated and sustainable transport systems in the country’s secondary cities).
In Huamanga, the CODATU and AFD delegation met with the Mayor and his officials to discuss mobility issues, visit strategic places in the city and exchange on potential sustainable transport projects.
In Arequipa, a working meeting in the presence of the Mayor and his team in charge of transport allowed the presentation of the results of the diagnosis of the reform of the integrated transport system elaborated within the framework of the cooperation, and to validate a strategic roadmap for the city, which was agreed between CODATU, GiZ (German cooperation) and PROMOVILIDAD. This meeting was followed by a visit to the main transport axis of the city, which corresponds to the tramway route, the emblematic transport project of Peru’s second city.
