COP22 : launching the operational phase of MobiliseYourCity
CODATU was present during the 22nd
Conference of the Parties (COP22) organised under the supervision of the United Nation Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC) that took place from 7 to 18 November 2016 in Marrakech. CODATU was very active within its participation to MobiliseYourCity. Detailed program of the participation of CODATU at COP22 can be found on the website.
Launching the operational phase of MobiliseYourCity
The 1st MobiliseYourCity Streering Committee (MYC SC) was organised on 11 November with all founding partners in Marrakech during COP22. Founding Partners and European Commission representatives reviewed the first applications to MobiliseYourCity received by the secretariat from cities and countries willing to join the initiative. After a detailed analysis, the members of the MobiliseYourCity SC announced the list of accepted applications, which have been announced the same day in the afternoon during a High Level event on the French Pavilion in the Blue Zone to gather high level representatives of MobiliseYourCity partners who took part to a signature ceremony and announced the first cities and countries joining the initiative:
- For the national level: Cameroon and Morocco
- For the local level: Yaoundé and Douala (Cameroon), Casablanca (Morocco), and Kochi (India).
A dedicated signature ceremony between the Moroccan representatives and MYC partners involved in Morocco followed the announcement..
Partners of the initiative will start working with beneficiary cities and countries in early 2017.
Joining MobiliseYourCity :
The initiative is meant to support 100 cities and 20 countries (developing or in transition) within 2020.
You would like to join the initiative :
- As a city (local level): sign the MobiliseYourCity Declaration and fill in the Ambition statement that will be submitted for decision to the MobiliseYourCity SC (that gathers twice a year).
- As a country (national level): sign the MobiliseYourCity Declaration and write a Letter of Interest to the MobiliseYourCity SC to explain why your country would like to join MobiliseYourCity.
These documents are available on demand at the MobiliseYourCity Secretariat : contact@mobiliseyourcity.net and must be sent to that same E-mail address (filled in, signed and stamped) for official application.
Note : Accepted cities and countries can benefit from all the dedicated methodology developed by the partners and gives access to a large community of practice and the international exchange platform that will foster the sharing of best practices. Financial support of cities and countries will depend on the availability of funds.
