International Transport Forum: CODATU presents the initiative Sustainable Urban Mobility : What’s your plan ?
CODATU
took part to the International Transport Forum Summit Summit (ITF), the transport branch of the OECD (Leipzig, 27, 28, 29 May). The initiatives proposed by the transport sector for COP21, the UN conference on climate change, have been officially announced during a special open ministerial plenary gathering about 40 transport ministers from ITF country members. Among them, the initiative Sustainable Urban Mobility: Do you have a Plan? supported by CODATU and its partners has been presented in details by Julien Allaire during a side event.
The Summit also gave the opportunity to the partners to organise a working session gathering representatives of the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, AFD, CEREMA, CODATU and GIZ (German international cooperation agency) to structure the initiative. This meeting was followed by another reunion in Bonn (3 June) with, in addition to the above-mentioned actors, representatives of the German ministries of Environment and International Cooperation (BMUB, BMZ). The reunion was the occasion for the ministries from both countries to state their willingness to support a strong French-German leadership for the initiative. The timeline of the launch of the initiative was discussed, and the main milestones are: World Summit Climate and Territories in Lyon (1,2 July 2015), COP21 (December 2015, Paris), Habitat conference in Berlin (mid-May 2016, Berlin) and Habitat III conference (October 2016, Quito).
