Agence Française de Développement (AFD) has been combating poverty and promoting development in South countries and Overseas France for seventy years. Through grants, loans, guarantee funds and debt reduction and development contracts, it finances projects, programmes and studies and helps its Southern partners build their capacities.
Transport is one of AFD’s traditional sectors of intervention. Over the period 2001-2005, AFD mobilized an average of €164M per year for the implementation of transport projects (including rural and urban development projects with transport activities).
