The INAU, created in 1981, is a training institution for senior executives in urban planning and development. It is the only training institution in Morocco that deals with the problems of spatial organisation and the different instruments of intervention on the latter.
The INAU is classified in the “A” category, which includes the faculties and the major schools of higher education in Morocco (Mohammedia School of Engineers, Hassania School of Public Works, Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute, etc.).
It is legally placed under the supervision of the governmental department in charge of Urbanism and Territorial Planning (currently, it is the Ministry of Urbanism and Territorial Planning).
