Taxi be modernisation progresses in Madagascar
On Tuesday 8 October 2024, the Minister of Transport and Meteorology met the CODATU Madagascar team to review the ‘Zotra Fitaratra’ project to modernise Antananarivo’s Taxi be. The economic model and conditions for the success of the project were presented. Particular emphasis was placed on the need for strong political support for this project, which will demonstrate a new bus operating system for the whole country.
The first stage of this project is the launch of the Iarivo ring-road bus line, which features the introduction of :
– New buses adapted to public transport and with greater capacity,
– Organisation of the operation of the line by a transport company that will have to respect the bus timetable
– the introduction of digital ticketing.
Another existing pilot line will be modernised using the lessons learned from the launch of the first line. The aim is to modernise the entire system. A project to keep an eye on!
